"Friends of ColoradoGuy.com" Adopt A Highway Workcrew

(23 Large Bags Filled With Roadside Litter & Crap!) - January 31, 2004

Hooray! The "Friends of ColoradoGuy.com" are a mean, lean, orange vest wearing machine and we're going all out in the fight against highway litter! Get this: We filled up 23 large garbage bags with cigarette butts, aluminum cans and all sorts of roadside crap.

Below is a lovely pictorial highlighting the events of the six brave men and women who worked on the first-ever Adopt A Highway crew! For 2 1/2 hours, we labored, worked our lower backs like never before and filled up those bright orange C-DOT (Colorado Department of Transportation) garbage bags with almost anything you could imagine. The highway we adopted is the two-mile stretch of Route 24 commonly known as the "Manitou Bypass" in Manitou Springs. That's from milemarker 297 to 299 to be exact, and while the official Adopt A Highway sign has yet to be erected (in which it should read Adopted by Friends of ColoradoGuy.com), that didn't stop us from having a whoop of a good time!

Lastly, I'll say it was quite nice to actually do some solid community work after the "big scandal" about my true motives for adopting a highway earlier in the month! ;)

Love, Steve :)

Pictures From Our First Adopt A Highway Work Session! :)

The first ever Adopt A Highway crew! :)
TOP LEFT: John Hundley and Tim Hoeffel
TOP RIGHT: Boki Evans and Rain Thrower
BOTTOM LEFT: Rich Harland (Known as "Pony66")
BOTTOM RIGHT: Myself :p)
Thank you!

Oooooh! Rain found a $10 bill. Isn't that amazing? :)

By the way, Rain served as my Hair Consultant on two occasions, but I fired her each time. :p)
John found a piece of litter he found to be icky, along with an old and muddy real estate sign. ;)
Wow! We found an old New Year's item from 2000 and a plastic pony.
Boki holds up a hubcap and other garbage. He wasn't happy to see all the litter and crap all over the place!
Tim found a big ol' black piece of tarp.
I don't remember why, but I was really happy about something when this picture was taken. ;)
Here are some of the views of State Highway 24 in Manitou Springs ...
... It's definitely a scenic stretch of highway!
Near the end, people started to get tired.
Here are all of my Adopt A Highway pictorials:
  • Spring 2004, Fall 2004, January 2005, April 2005, May 2005
  • Great shot! :)
Okay, here are all of my content with Boki:
  • Boki's Hawaii pictures
  • Boki runs for Hair Consultant (2002)
  • Boki's stomach
  • Boki at Pajama Party
  • Man oh man, I had some great friends helping me with picking up all that trash!
I'm telling ya, we found all sorts of junk! :)
And special thanks to the entire crew for wearing those orange vests! ;)
There it is! The sign! :)
When the Adopt A Highway signs were first posted up there, I kept driving past it on purpose just to gaze at it! :p)
