ALMA, COLORADO: (Highest Elevation for an Incorporated Town in the Lower 48!)
June 2004 - Altitude 10,578 Feet
|
Alma, Colorado! It's a small town between Fairplay and
Breckenridge, south of Hoosier Pass. |
 |
That highest point is Mount Bross, which overlooks the town. |
|
Looking west towards Mosquito Gulch. |
 |
Make sure you visit my Kite Lake
pictorial, where the scenery was downright stunning! I also hiked Mt. Democrat, Mt. Lincoln and Mt. Bross from up there. |
|
The Alma Fire House & Museum ... It was closed! :( |
 |
Inside a local coffee & ice cream shop,
was a very nice piece of photography celebrating the spirit of the residents. |
|
Perhaps I should have done more in
the town and in fact, I had intended to find the mayor of Alma,
but instead I wound up having dinner at the "South Park Saloon". |
|
That is the food I ate. It was delicious!
Alma is located in Park County, Colorado, and particularly in a vast region known as "South Park."
A few of my area pages:
Hartsel
Eleven Mile Reservoir
Hoosier Pass (Sept. 2005)
Hoosier Pass (March 2006)
Breckenridge (Town)
Breckenridge (Mountains)
Quandary Peak |
 |
This bar & restaurant really milked the "South Park" theme for all it's worth.
I love it!
Take a closer look at their menu ... heh heh! |
