| Just outside of South Fork, Colorado, my buddy Dave and I began traveling up Highway 149. |
| Near the area known as Wagon Wheel Gap, just look at the desert-like landscape! |
| I took a few pictures of signs profiling some of the region's history, including John Fremon's expedition in 1848, the Ute Indian tribe and a tribute to the Rio Grande. |
| A few miles outside of Creede, I got a nice shot of the Rio Grande as an infant! ;) |
| What I really appreciated about Creede and Mineral
County is just how sparsely populated the area is. From a bicycling standpoint,
it sure was nice not to have lots of cars whizzing by us.
And get this: Only 584 people live in the town of Creede! ;) |
| Two more in-action photos! I smoked a
cigar early on in the ride to celebrate reaching my 3,000 miles goal for the year. And notice how bundled up Dave was ... it was pretty darn cold! :p) |
The Town of Creede, Colorado! Pictures Inside Town
| Arrival in historic Creede, Colorado! :) The distance from Creede to South Fork is approximately 20 miles. |
| Tomkins Gifts & Gas! What a neat-looking gas station! :) |
| There I am in downtown Creede. Folks, I can't believe how fat my stomach looks in that picture! :( |
| Up into the canyon
behind downtown, the Creede Fire Department has their headquarters
as part of the side of a mountain. It's so neat! |
| Great picture! Here are all of my bicycling adventures: Monarch Pass Salida, Poncha Springs, Buena Vista Across Colorado Breckenridge Ute Pass, Manitou Lake Telluride New Mexico (Taos), New Mexico (Santa Fe) |
| At the Creede Underground Mining Museum, I did my best to imitate this statue of a mining dude. :p) |
| Before returning back to South Fork, we had lunch at Mac's Old Mine. Just look at their front entrance! Hee hee hee! I loved it! :) |
| I had a ColoradoGuy bumper sticker with me
and posted it on the dart board above our table. Mac's
Old Mine has a ritual of allowing customers to write on wooden areas. Look what we wrote! ;) |
| We bother ordered the chicken burrito and folks, it was really good! |
| After eating my meal, my stomach
needed to adjust for a bit. Hence, my disconcerting facial gesture. Ah, but I did get
an in-action eating photo of Dave! ;) |
One Last Picture On The Way Back To South Fork
| On the way back, Dave stood in the middle of the road to take a picture of something! :p) |
