I had some free time on a chilly November day and visited Eleven Mile Reservoir in Park County, Colorado. Now I am sure fishing is the largest attraction to this particular lake, but let me say there is a great amount of scenery to enjoy as well.

Park County, Colorado The South Platte River runs through the high plateau and flows into the reservoir. Other pages in this general vicinity: Guffey, Hartsel, Wilkerson Pass, Trout Creek Pass and Lake George.
Eleven Mile Reservoir, CO Eleven Mile Reservoir, CO It kinda looks like a beach a little, doesn't it? ;)

Keep in mind, however, that this is really frigid mountain runoff water. It is extremely cold! :P

Tumbleweeds A number of tumbleweeds lay ailing by the lake's edge.
A sign about various fishes. I know so little about fishes and fishing and I only caught one fish in my entire life - a 15-inch stripped bass in Cape Cod, MA seven years ago.

Some of my nearby mountain pages in that direction:

  • Kite Lake
  • Mt. Sherman
  • Mt. Democrat, Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Bross
  • Hoosier Pass
  • Eleven Mile Reservoir, Colorado I captured a photo of a bird flying across!

At the visitor center, some interesting history is explained in signs. Click each thumbnail to read them close up!
Steve Friends, it was freezing outside! It was about 30 degrees, but with the winchill and strong winds (blowing against my hair, see adjacent photo) I would say it was around 15. Yeeesh!

Colorado Rocky Mountains From the far southern side of the lake (across from the visitor center), go south on Road 59 and you will go over a pass that gives you this view of the Sangre de Cristo range.
Snow A thin layer of snow on the ground. I know all you folks in Texas appreciate photos like this! :)
