The ride up the highway was so amazing -
even better than getting to the top of the mountain. |
Near the beginning of the highway, the peak looked so huge, so far and so high up in the sky. |
Holy you-know-what! This sign ain't kidding! :) |
As we approached timberline, the trees become kinda gaunt
and scraggly, as if they're gasping for air. |
Around 10,500 feet, we were already amazed at the view. |
At the top, I was lucky to see the Cog Railway coming up. |
Everyone! There was some snow up there! Mark was so happy. |
Above timberline, Mark was so amused with those
funky-shaped rocks. |
I just really like this picture. |
So there's our one token picture officially at the top of Pikes Peak. Yawn! |
The highway is 19 miles long. A sign said that
temperatures can be as cold as -60 F in that spot. Apparently only tough, arctic-like
plants survive in the rocky area. Yikes! |
Another incredible view. Can you see me in that pic? :) |
