PONCHA SPRINGS, COLORADO! Scenic Mountain Pictures Around Town (February 1, 2006)
 |
Poncha Springs is a small town five miles west of Salida in Chaffee County.
The woman at their Town Hall told me are only 500 residents according to the 2000 U.S. Census! :p) |
|
Now I donated all of these pictures to PonchaSprings.org, a web site dedicated to the town. That's Mt. Ouray and Chipeta Peak. Nice! :) |
|
The view of the mountains (way out in the distance that are behind Salida) at the Poncha Springs Cemetery. |

Looking west towards Monarch Pass. |
|
I zoomed-in on Mt. Shavano, a "14er" (altitude of 14,229 feet).
Here are all of my 14er pictures: Pikes Peak (Hike), Pikes Peak (Photo),
Mt. Princeton Mt. Sherman, Mt. Democrat - Lincoln - Bross Mt. Elbert, Mt. Massive, Mt. Yale |

The Poncha Springs Town Hall (which operated as a schoolhouse and was built in 1882) and the Jackson Hotel. |
|
The view of town, looking southbound on Highway 285, which leads to Poncha Pass. |

At the summit of Poncha Pass, looking southward towards the northern Sangre De Cristo mountain range. |
